Home Remedies for Dark Circles
Dark circles under the eyes are very common these days. Although they are more common among elders, they can develop at an early age. There are expensive treatments that involve cosmetic products that may contain chemicals and harm the skin. So, you may try some natural remedies for dark circles before visiting a doctor or applying a cosmetic product under your eyes.
There are many natural ways to get rid of dark circles under eyes:
Almond Oil:
Apply a small amount of almond oil over the dark circles before going to bed. Follow this natural treatment for at last two weeks.
Coconut Oil:
Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer. Massage the area around your eyes with coconut oil in a circular motion; first clockwise and then anti-clockwise. Do it before going to bed and leave it overnight. In the next morning rinse it off with clean lukewarm water.
Turmeric:
Turmeric contains curcumin that is good for the skin. Take a half tablespoon of turmeric and add a few drops of almond oil to form a paste. Massage the affected area with paste and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash it off with normal water. Do it thrice a week.
Mint Leaves:
Take a few mint leaves and grind to make a paste. Apply this paste over the dark circles and leave it for at least 10 minutes then wipe it off using a clean wet cloth.
Orange Juice and Glycerin:
Take orange juice and glycerin. Mix them to form a mixture then apply it around your eyes. It not only helps remove dark circles but also provides a natural glow to your skin.
Tomato Paste:
Take two grated tomatoes, a tablespoon of lemon juice, one-fourth tablespoon of turmeric powder and gram flour. Mix all these ingredients to form a paste. Apply this paste around your eyes and wash it off after 15 minutes. Do this twice a week.
Lemon Juice:
Lemon is rich in vitamin C which is known for its bleaching properties. Take lemon juice and apply it around your eyes using a cotton ball and leave for ten minutes then rinse it off with clean water. Do this thrice a week.
Cucumber:
Put a slice of fresh cucumber over eyes for 12 to 15 minutes or grate a cucumber and extract the juice then apply it around your eyes. Do it on a daily basis for better results. You can chill cucumber slices in a refrigerator before using them.
Rosewater:
Rosewater has mild astringent properties. Take rose water and cotton pads. Apply rosewater on the dark circles using a cotton pad. You also soak the cotton pad in rosewater and place it on closed eyelids. Do this for at least three weeks for better results.
Potato:
Potato has bleaching properties that make it a suitable home remedy to lighten dark circles. Chill potatoes in a refrigerator for around one hour. Then peel and grate the potatoes and extract the juice. Apply the juice around your eyes using a cotton ball before going to bed and leave it overnight. Do it for a week or more for better results.
Milk:
Milk contains lactic acid that helps soften and moisturize the skin. Chill the milk in a refrigerator. Dip cotton balls in the milk then place them under your eyes and hold until they become warm. Do it three or four times a day for three or four weeks or more for better results.
Saffron:
Saffron contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances that help enhance skin color. Take a tablespoon of milk and add a few saffron strands into it to form a mixture. Now massage this mixture around your eyes and leave it overnight. In the next morning rinse it off with water. Do it every day for better results.

Aloe Vera is good for the skin. Since ancient times it is used to improve skin tone, and to treat various skin disorders. Massage the dark circles with aloe vera gel before going to bed and leave it overnight and wash it off with cold water in the next morning.

Fenugreek Seeds:
Take two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds and soak them in water for around five hours. Grind the seeds to make a paste. Add a half tablespoon of turmeric powder and one tablespoon of milk to the paste. Now, apply this paste around your eyes over the dark circles, and leave it for 20 minutes then rinse it off with clean water. Do it at once in a day for two or three weeks.
Argan Oil:
Argan oil is rich in vitamin E. It is also light-weight oil that is easily absorbed by the skin. It not only helps remove dark circles but also helps reduce lines and wrinkles under the eyes. Massage the affected area with this oil before going to bed then wash it off in the next morning.
