What to Eat During Pregnancy



The baby in the womb of the mother needs nutrients and energy to develop and grow properly. So, make sure your diet provides enough nutrients and energy to your baby. Some foods recommended by health experts to eat during pregnancy for a healthy baby are given below:

Cheese:
Cheese is rich in calcium and milk proteins. Cheddar cheese and mozzarella can be consumed during pregnancy.  

Bananas:
Banana is high in folic acid, calcium, potassium, vitamin, and antioxidants. A single banana can offer more than one hundred calories.

Sweet Potato:
Sweet potato is a rich source of folic acid, fiber, vitamin C and beta-carotene.  The beta-carotene gets converted to vitamin A which is good for the growth, repair, and differentiation of cells.

Tomatoes:
Tomatoes provide you enough vitamin A and C. You can eat tomatoes raw or as tomato sauce on pizza, pasta, etc.

Oranges:
It gives you the required amount of vitamin C and fulfills your daily fluid requirements as it is around 90 percent water.

Whole Grain Bread:  
Prefer whole grain bread over white bread as it has more fiber, iron, and zinc which are good for the growth of the baby.

Oatmeal:
Oatmeal provides instant energy as wells as helps lower cholesterol level. Also, it is fortified with selenium, calcium, phosphorus and Vitamin B1.

Broccoli:
Broccoli is high in iron, folate, potassium, antioxidants and vitamin A, C and K.  As it contains vitamin C, it helps your body absorb iron when you consume broccoli with iron-rich food.

Spinach:
Green leafy vegetables like spinach is good during pregnancy. Cooked spinach is believed to have high amounts of iron and folate.

Eggs:
Eggs are high in proteins, vitamins, and minerals. The proteins found in eggs promote regeneration and repair of cells and are particularly essential for a healthy baby. Furthermore, choline, which is found in eggs, is essential for the development of the brain cells and the nervous system.
